Up

They're up. Take a look. More pictures will be on their way, but I'm so stoked to see everything on the walls. Stay tuned for more visual evidence.

It's All Coming Together

Last night the Neighbor Who Hangs Art at a Museum for a Living came over. He's a very smart man and he helped lay the foundation for hanging all my pieces. I. Am. Stoked.
And grateful. There are about 50 pieces and without his guidance, this would be too daunting.

Above is a taste of the still unfinished hallway.

Last Batch (for now)

Hello friends,

With but a week to go until The Big Bash, I managed to finish five more pieces and slather them in synthetic amber, thus preserving my visions for all eternity. Ahem. Here they are on the patio table awaiting the hot sun for a day of hard curing. Behold:

Overtime

I thought I was done. But a conversation with my neighbor changed that. You see, he sets up art exhibitions for a living. And concurred with The Million Dollar Wife that the downstairs hallway and landing was a superior space . I'd been hung up on the big living room, but I am convinced. Why? I am a flexible thinker.
And his ideas for how the paintings can be displayed are radical and exciting. However, I want to now finish at least one more BIG piece, plus a few more little ones before it all goes up.
And when the need for inspiration arises, inspiration will soon follow - if you ask nicely.
Here's what I started last night. It ain't done yet, but I like where it's going. Thoughts?

Birthday Resin

Here it is. I think the Great Paint Forward is complete. There are a couple more pieces to slather with precious, life giving resin, but otherwise I'm done for now and feeling very content.

I wanted to finish a lot of new pieces before my birthday while pushing myself to explore a larger scale and color and I've done just that.

Now I need to wrap-up the as-yet-unrevealed-projects and think about how I'm going to display all of these.
These are good dilemmas. I age gratefully.

A Bold Step, A Drastic Measure

Yikes. Color. Haven't really tried that before, but I felt like the Viking ship was missing...something. Thoughts?

Proof That I Do All The Work Myself

Not that anyone doubted it. But the other day The Million Dollar Male Offspring gained access to my iPhone and took some pictures of me while I was painting.

I have to say, for a six year-old, he did a pretty good job. Must be because he's small enough to get into spots a grown-up can't.

He's kind of like those dolphins and sea lions that the Navy trains.

Am I Done Yet?

Worked on this last night. I woke up, looked at it and feel pretty good about it. But. Does it need more? A Viking, perhaps? Please advise.

Renewed Vigor

Much like a Berkeley liberal, real life has interfered with my artistic pursuits in the form of my old car dying a miserable, ignominious death. That plus work, the resumption of school, etc. My focus had been...elsewhere.

Also contributing was the feeling of accomplishment I got from my mega-productive July.
But that was fool's gold. Lately I've been rolling again, all in a push to meet the BIG deadline.
There has been much done for the as-yet-unrevealed-project, which is good.

And there's yesterday's bounty. Behold:

What Have You Done Today

The painting muse is on vacation, apparently. However, last night in the furnace of a summer house I finally edited the as-yet-unrevealed-project.

The drawings are done, now the copy is, too.

And that is satisfying.

What have you done today to help us win a national championship?

Small Gains

Since Friday I've gotten a set of drawings for the as-yet-unrevealed-project to the DutchDesigner.

No new paintings, but that will soon change.

Hooray for deadlines!

Resin-Mania

12 new pieces, glazed with sweet, toxic resin. Where? In The Million Dollar Garage, of course.

A New Giant in our Midst

There he is, everybody's favorite jotun: The Raychopper (tm). He's chopping away sun rays to hoard in his icy hall, up in the barren wastes of jotunheim.
It's been an interesting challenge to scale up my paintings. And with this one I finally feel like I've been able to have fun with proportions, space, etc.

Lo And Behold

I'm posting to this blog now. Why? Because it's easier than dealing with iWeb to keep everyone updated on my latest works.

And there has been much activity on that front.

So let's kick things off with this: (and a watermark!)

See? Told you. And don't panic, we still have ye olde website up. Stay tuned...
